The Music I Play...
I play a lap-held medieval harp.
On this intriguing instrument, I play medieval music, as well as my own arrangements of renaissance songs, folk songs, world music and spiritual chants. I also create my own improvisations and original compositions.
Harp Music for your Event
I am available to play contemplative harp music, at retreats, ceremonies, and small gatherings. I play without amplification, so a good acoustic is needed. I can travel within Cornwall, and possibly further afield by negotiation.
Private Harp Visit
I also offer to play for people who are housebound or near their end-of-life. It may be their birthday, an anniversary, or perhaps you just want to arrange something lovely to make their time easier. I will bring my medieval harp to your loved one's chair side or bedside, and play some gentle, soothing harp music, with compassion and loving intent.
Group Sound Baths
For a more varied sound experience, I offer 'Sound Baths' for group retreats, workshops and mindful gatherings. My Sound Baths interweave medieval harp music with a selection of drums, chimes, singing bowls and song. Listeners usually lie on the floor, with myself and my instruments in the centre. The music is gentle and meditative, allowing emotional release and deep relaxation.
One-to-One Sound Baths
In a One-to-One Sound Bath, sometimes known as 'Harp Therapy', the music I create is played with intention to you and you alone. We start by chatting about any issues you may currently be facing, and together set an intention for the session. Then all you need to do is relax into my zero-gravity chair, and absorb the ancient harp melodies and other therapeutic sounds.
I have often been told that the music I create transports people to a beautiful and soothing place, that it helps them relax fully and deeply. In other cases it enables people to access their locked emotions and grief. Afterwards, may come a feeling of release and greater peace.
